I’m a young event rider based in Suffolk, currently in my third year studying Bioveterinary Science at the University of Lincoln. I have been part of the university’s BUCS A Championship team for the academic years 19/20, 20/21, 21/22 & 22/23 and I am currently the Team Captain for the second year, as well as being the society President. I compete my horse, Merlin, who is an Irish Sports Horse X Thoroughbred with a whole lot of personality. Merlin is a one-of-a-kind character and very quirky (he certainly isn’t afraid of throwing in a buck and a rear here and there), however he has bags of potential and sometimes is too clever for his own good.

We have worked our way up the levels together and in previous years have been to Hickstead Championships, County Championships, Eland Lodge Hunter Trial Finals and qualified for Novice Dressage Championships.  We compete at 90cm eventing, 100/100cm Show Jumping and Novice level Dressage, but are currently just enjoying life and having fun together.

**January 2021**

Our aims for 2021 are to step up a level in dressage and qualify for the Elementary Dressage Championships as well as having a crack at some 115/1120cm Show Jumping. We are also hoping to qualify for the Riding Club Eventing Championships at 100cm, and gain a consistent eventing record at this level.

**January 2022**

2021 was relatively quiet for Merlin & I, mostly due to the lack of unaffiliated events in my area. However, we did make it out to a couple of events consistently scoring sub 30's in the dressage. We focussed a lot on rebuilding confidence and schooling throughout the year.

My aims for 2022 are to focus more on our Show Jumping & Dressage and progress up a level in these. The aim is to get out to more 110cm Show Jumping and step up to Elementary Dressage, while having fun at the odd ODE. I’d love to qualify for Eland Lodge Hunter Trail Finals again and join a riding club to qualify for Riding Club Championships. I post regular updates on my Instagram, @bf.eventing, including all of Merlin’s quirks.

I’m extremely grateful for all the support Treehouse have given and I’m incredibly excited to continue working with them this year.

**January 2023**

2022 was a rather quiet year for Merlin & I due to university commitments and the extremely dry summer leaving the ground like a rock :( However, we did make it out to a fair bit of schooling and the beach, we just enjoyed the year with no pressure.

My aims for 2023 are to get back out eventing, hopefully staying consistent at 90cm and trying some 100cm ODEs. I’d love to get out to more 110cm Show Jumping and step up to Elementary Dressage but being in my third year at uni this may be difficult. I’d love to qualify for Eland Lodge Hunter Trail Finals again.

I’m extremely grateful for all the support Treehouse have given and I’m so very excited to continue working with them this year to see what it brings. x
