Georgie Spence wins the Austrian leg of the Eventing Nations Cup

Helite Treehouse rider George Spence leads the way after the Austrian leg of The Eventing Nations Cup.  British Nations Cup first timers Georgie Spence and Halltown Harley were the triumphant individual winners of the first ever FEI Nations Cup of Eventing competition to be held in Austria over the weekend.  Georgie Spence, 28 from Wiltshire, riding her own and Mrs Suzanne Doggett’s 11 year old gelding Halltown Harley

Despite Britain being on the back foot from the start of the event, with just three riders in the team due to set backs the week before the competition, the British trio of riders still managed to finish in a credible fifth place. Due to losing a shoe cross country Opposition Detective was not able to complete the competition. Despite this the British team still remain at the lead of the series ahead of the next leg at The Plains (USA).

Georgie Spence who was leading after the cross country phase said of her win: “It was a real honour to be called up to ride in my first ever Nations Cup so to win it was wonderful, I am so proud of him [Halltown Harley]. Although it was nerve wracking going in first there’s no other horse I would have wanted to go into the show jumping phase on.

“It was an amazing experience for his owner Suzanne Doggett too, she is quite a new owner for me and has had a great few weeks – the first time she watched him compete was when he went double clear at Bramham last month then she was also there when he won his first Nations Cup outing which is great.”
