Alexandra Dunn on Rainbow Tree
Treehouse sponsored rider Alex Dunn, is enjoying another fantastic season. Alex kicked off 2014 with a double at Taunton riding Helium and Come on Annie to victory in a 66-1 double against the pro's! Helium has continued to run well with a third in a class 2 hurdle and a third at Wincanton yesterday.

Picaroon has come back from a year on the side-lines, he was third in a jumpers bumper and went even closer with a second in a hunter chase at Wincanton. He is also ridden by Alex, who hopes that he will be in the winners enclosure shortly.

Lion on the Prowl who was successful at Andoversford point to point in 2013, made an unsuccessful start to 2014 with being unsighted at the first fence at Charing and unseating. However he has since had a good schooling session at home and will be back on the racecourse shortly.

Double Mead has to be Alex’s number one ride. The winner of eighteen races, she really has been a model of consistency. She was third on her debut and will improve significantly for the run.

When asked, Alex had this advice for first time riders " The fitter you are the more you will enjoy it, you can never be too fit. If possible buy a video of your rides so that you can watch them at home and see what to improve on for next time."

Alex is currently being coached by BHA jockey coach Rodi Greene, Alex has found this to be a massive help and a great way to improve technique and fitness.

Matthew Barber, based in Wales, is looking forward to the Welsh season getting underway and hopefully the weather improving!  He has a yard full of nice horses and has enjoyed places this season but looking forward to breaking his duck!

Matthew's tip for first time riders is 'only ride safe horses in your first few seasons as its not a good combination a novice horse and rider'!
